       EYE LIE

EYE LIE it's a performance based on this premise: one or more performers deprived of using the sight, who enter in a dialogue with the sound, using it as a space orienting – support structure. This work was born by the urge of choreographer Valeria Caboi of breaking with the creative method used until now, which was based on the exchange of video material with faraway performers. Eye lie focuses on presence instead of on absence. A change of direction in relation to the research the Red T-Shirt Project have been developing. If until now the performers could just count on images and sounds, as the organic presence of others was completely denied to them, with EYE LIE it's the moment to touch, listen, smell, define and create the performance space without having to depend on the visual learning mechanisms. The voices of invited performers are recorded while they describe movements they're observing in each other's improvisations, in Internet dance videos or the movement video archive from Valeria Caboi's previous project (The Red T-Shirt Dance Project). This recorded and edited voices turn in vocal commands for the performer on stage, and will be used as material for the sound composition, directly influencing the choreographic creation.

The sound system is quadraphonic, so the performer is directly oriented in the space by every single speaker giving movement orders.
